CarXpert lets you rate used cars based on their MOT history. We’ve looked at how many cars of each make and model had ratings carried out on them during August, and we’ve also had a look at the most popular fuel types and the ages of cars that people have been rating.
If you haven’t tried CarXpert’s used car rating system, you can try it here – just enter the registration number of the car you want to rate. You can get a rating for any car that’s old enough to have MOT history in England, Scotland and Wales.
Most Popular Models
The most popular model of car in August was the Ford Fiesta, which is in line with the latest figures for used car sales from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Here’s the top ten cars that people were getting ratings for in August –
Interestingly, our top 6 is the same as the SMMT’s. Our top 10 cars accounted for 27% of all the cars that were rated in August.
Age of Cars Rated
We’ve also had a look at the age of the cars that people have been getting CarXpert ratings for. As you can see from the chart below, the largest group was cars in the 11 to 15 year old category. During August the average age of cars that were rated was exactly 12 years old. Compared to July, people were looking at more cars in the 6-10 year age group (28.8% versus 24.9%).
Most Popular Fuel Types
When it comes to the type of fuel that people are leaning towards for their next used car, Petrol was the most popular option in August.
