According to the latest update on new car registrations from the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), hybrid cars have seen a huge growth in market share this year. As they’re becoming so popular we thought we’d see if we could find an affordable 5 Star used hybrid.
The SMMT figures show that while new car registrations are up over 42% this year compared to last year (no prizes for guessing why), registrations of hybrid cars have almost doubled – they’re up by 94%. Presumably these cars will also be increasingly attractive to used car buyers, perhaps because of the increasing number of Ultra Low Emissions Zones.
To qualify as a 5 star car, a car must have had zero MOT fails and zero advisory items reported. It didn’t take us long to find our hybrid 5 Star Car of the Week, a Toyota Yaris 1.5 VVT-h Icon. It’s a 2014 car on a 63 plate, has done just over 20,000 miles and is on sale with a Toyota dealer in Tamworth for £8,397.
